Fishing Report for Tampa Area.

MONTHLY REPORT SEPT

 Weather

Hurricanes Katrina and Rita have all contributed to the entire month’s activities being cancelled.

All that being said, CA and I are planning on doing a pro night at the BASS PRO SHOP in Destin in conjunction with the FLW championship on either Oct.24 or 25th.

PRO TIPS

One two punch for locating and catching redfish.

It’s all about lure selection. I start by tying on a half oz. Johnson gold spoon. Running my Minn-Kota at a steady half speed I cast to every likely looking spot. As soon as I locate reds, I lower my power pole and begin to extract every redfish in the area with a jig and GULP combo. It’s important not to fish too fast! I simply dead stick the GULP in a sand hole, along an oyster bar or under the mangroves. You’re going to catch a lot of redfish this way. I always have my X-TOOLS grip and weight handy, which saves wear and tear on your hands landing all of these fish and accurately weighs them in the process. Invariably because of the powerful scent attractants in these GULP baits I have my X-TOOLS de-hooker close by. This tool will save many fish that may swallow the bait.
